Zombie Survival Crew

As Hurricane Isaac moves its way across the U.S. Gulf Coast we are reminded, once again, of the importance of pre-planning to manage a manmade, zombie or natural disaster. We here at Zombie Survival Crew command want all our brigade members to be prepared and stay safe whatever disaster hits. Some things are, ultimately, out of our control…but we can all be ready with supplies, plans and contact information to deal with most situations.

To help make sure you’re ready, we’ve compiled a list of sites that provide disaster planning assistance as well as links to disaster relief organizations and official data centers.

• For weather related disasters in the U.S. a good place to start is the government weather channel
• Internationally, check the World Meteorological Organization
• For Hurricane specific data in the U.S., go to the National Hurricane Center
• Two solid places for information on public health concerns:

• United Nations’ World Health Organization (which has links to WHO outbreak news, emergencies and disaster info)
• Relief:
• Red Cross—Find Open Shelters(or call 1-800-RED CROSS)
• As of August 27th, there were 52 shelters operating in the area affected by hurricane Issac. For up-to-date information, call or check local news sources.
• If you wish to be of assistance, but do not live in the Gulf Cost, donate blood. Hospitals need to be as prepared as we are, if not more. Visit your local blood bank–every drop helps.
