There were simply too many deaths in this episode which in the end tied up a loose thread in the plot. Sure, they were somewhat spectacular deaths, but that then comes down to a simple A-B reasoning for offing the character.

Before the season kicks off, AMC is prepping fans with full-season marathons every Sunday from now until August 23rd. On August 23rd, Talking Dead will air a season 6 preview special at 8/7c. Just so fans don't panic, the 16 episode season will be split, like seasons past, with the first 8 episodes airing this October and the final 8 airing in February 2016.
